Schinderwies Productions exists as an independent label in Regensburg, Germany since 2002 with its first official release PLUS GANZWIND. Since then a considerable number of CD and vinyl releases followed. Without any masterplan or dogma in sound or style Schinderwies releases deal with electronic and acoustic sounds, with songs and tracks, to an extent where existing borders blur or vanish. Most music on Schinderwies is rather quiet reaching out to the listener´s ear for full attention and enjoyment in return.
The first Schinderwies acts recruited from a small circle of friends around label founder Archie Müller, who already had recorded and distributed various 4-track tapes under the name Schinderwies Productions in the late 90ies. Schinderwies is the name of a small community outside of Regensburg which served as a retreat for young artists since the early 80ies. Müller and friends organized parties, live shows and exhibitions there. After a one year stay in the US Müller moved to Regensburg but kept the name Schinderwies Productions. 2001 saw the first releases of other artists on CD-R. Ûsing Regensburg as homebase networks have been develloped with other cities and musicians. The former recordstore Swampland also played an important role in the label´s early phase. Owner Isolde von Reusner and Müller organized monthly spontaneous instore concerts, the Swampland Sessions. Bands like MIKROFISCH, PLUS GANZWIND, AUF DEM WEG INS KAUFHAUS... and HERZTECHNIK had their first public appearences. A year later they released their debut albums on Schinderwies. First tours and labelnights were organized. Radio airplay and features in print media and web helped to promote the releases.
In 2004 Schinderwies started to work with BROKEN SILENCE from Hamburg as steady distributor for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Albums by SPRUCE, TAUNUS and UWIK followed. In April 2006 the compilation Roommates is released and gives a taste of the special Schinderwies flavor, followed by the second albums of AUF DEM WEG INS KAUFHAUS and HERZTECHNIK.
2007 saw the releases of THE GENTLE LURCH, THE MARBLE MAN and THE MOTHER THE SON AND THE HOLY GHOST - LoFi-Country, Folk Pop and balladesque Rock representing perfectly the SCHINDERWIES philosohy: pure, simple, honest and enduring, like a good friend...
