Garda from Dresden, Germany, is an open collective of musicians around songwriter Kai Lehmann and drummer Ronny Wunderwald. Their debut album “Die, Technique, Die!” (co-released by K&F Records and Schinderwies Productions) can easily bear comparison with the likes of Sophia, Conor Oberst or Damien Rice. Lehmann´s songs about loss and being left, about desolation and a longing for love and caring are based on vocals, guitar and drums, often enlarged with piano, organ, clarinet, additional guitars, cello, tenor horn and trumpet, played by numerous befriended musicians with an outstanding feeling for atmosphere, melodies and structures. Therefore “Die, Technique, Die!” is an affair of the heart, dressed in 11 songs ranging from reduced, fragile Folkpop to rather orchestral moments.
